School Farms Network
A mutual support and specialist network of practitioners and those interested in starting a new school farm. The network:
For any school or education setting using animals for learning or wellbeing. From a pair of rabbits to an entire herd of cows!
A mutual support and specialist network of practitioners and those interested in starting a new school farm. The network gives:
- Free membership to Social Farms and Gardens
- Free membership to UK Animal Colleges Technicians (UKACT) and access to their excellent resources on animal welfare.
- Offers support and assistance to existing school-based farms and those wishing to start a new school farm (teachers, assistants and parents).
- Facilitates the exchange of ideas and information, including peer teacher support and CPD.
- Regional and national events, workshops and conferences.
- Mentoring programme, teaming schools and new projects with established schools and animal care colleges in their region.

How we can help
We specialise in support for schools, nurseries, colleges, alternative provisions, care farms and community gardens that use gardening and animal care for either learning or wellbeing of young people. This can be online, in person or a bespoke combination of the two. Sometimes, all you need is a critically supportive (and qualified!) ear to run through your ideas, your planning, resources or operations. With our experience of teaching, project management, legislation, risk assessment, community engagement, staff and volunteer engagement and, of course, horticulture and farming, we can evaluate your project, offer feedback and help you plan the next steps. This can start with a one-off session or be an ongoing package to suit you.
